How to Care for Acne & Dry Skin at the Same Time

We recently received an e-mail asking us how to get rid of acne when your skin is dry. Since many people have acne-prone skin and dry skin at the same time and do not know what to do for an acne dry skin treatment, we thought we would weigh in on the subject. Please note: We always recommend that our customers talk to a dermatologist first before trying a new product.

When dealing with exposed acne and dry skin, it is very important to treat both skin types. Unfortunately, most acne products on the market are made for oily skin, which means that they overly dry out the skin and make it more agitated. Likewise, most dry skin care products have too much moisture, which can further the development of clogged pours and acne. To help solve this viscous cycle, we have compiled a list of the best products for acne dry skin as well as a skin care regimen for complete acne dry skin treatment.

The Solution:

1. Choose a Facial Cleanser that is gentle and non-drying. Avoid moisturizing cleansers that clog pours and avoid facial scrubs that can cause irritated skin because the skin is already somewhat raw in blemished areas.
We recommend: Pangea Organics Egyptian Calendula Facial Cleanser, which is specifically made to heal and prevent acne without overly drying the skin.

2. Select an anti-bacterial Facial Toner to further clear out pours and reduce their size. This step is often skipped, but it shouldn't be. After washing the face, pours are left open for bacteria to get in. Facial Toners take cleansing one step further by deep cleaning out pours, which helps to remove blackheads and clear and prevent acne. Then the facial toners shrink the size of the pours reducing the chance for recontamination.
We recommend: Pangea Organics Argentinean Tangerine Facial Toner due to its anti-bacterial properties for acne and soothing qualities for dry skin.

3. Don't forget to Moisturize with a Facial Cream! Many people with acne-prone skin are afraid to moisturize, because they assume it will make their skin oily or breakout. Rest assured, this only happens with use of a dense moisturizer. Plus, without moisturizing your skin for the acne-prone & dry skin care type with a subtle dry skin therapy, the skin will only worsen.
We recommend: Pangea Organics Egyptian Fennel Facial Cream because it has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, but is also an efficient moisturizer.

4. Do a Weekly Mask / Very Light Exfoliation as a Specialty Treatment. While this step is not 100% necessary, it is absolutely beneficial as well as a nice treat for your skin. This step provides skin with added nourishment along with removing dead skin cells and further promoting skin cell regeneration for healthy skin.
We recommend: Pangea Organics Japanese Matcha Tea with Acai & Goji Berry Mask because it is jam-packed with nutrients and provides a very light, non-agitated and gentle type of exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, and blackheads for additional dry skin therapy.

Once you have your new acne, dry skin products, it is essential to start a consistant and regular skin care regimen. Skin takes approximately 45 days to regenerate new, healthy skin cells. Please note: when starting a new skin care regimen with new products, it can take a full 45 days to see the total results and up to 2 weeks before seeing big improvements.

A Typical Daily Skin Care Regimen Should Consist of:

1. Cleanse - twice daily, once in the morning and once at night with Pangea Organics Egyptian Calendula Facial Cleanser.

2. Tone - twice daily with the Pangea Organics Argentinean Tangerine Facial Toner after cleansing.

3. Moisturize - twice daily with Pangea Organics Egyptian Fennel Facial Cream after toning.

4. Specialty Treatment - one to two times per week with Pangea Organics Japanese Matcha Tea with Acai & Goji Berry Mask. When doing this step, use it in place of the facial cleanser. Follow with the facial cream.
